Our Story

Endurance House Kansas City

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and relocated to Kansas City 5 years ago.  I spent my early years as a runner but dove into the triathlon community in 2005.   Since that time I have completed numerous triathlons ranging from Sprint to Olympic distance,  8 Half Ironman, too many 5K, 10Ks and Half Marathons to count, as well as, 8 Marathons and 1 Ultra Marathon.  My first Ironman was Ironman Canada in 2010 followed by Ironman Wisconsin in 2015.  My favorite memory was training with and watching Anne completing her first Ironman.  I have always pushed myself to be successful, but to share my excitement with my best friend far exceeds anything I have done on my own. When we are out training together, that continues to build new memories.

I was born and raised in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, and moved to Kansas City in 2000.  I started swimming competitively at an early age and continued through my college years at Hood College.  After too many years off, I started running a few 5Ks and joined Team in Training shortly after arriving in Kansas City.  Since that time, I have completed numerous 5K and 10K races, 11 Half Marathons. 7 Marathons, countless Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons, 4 Half Ironman and Ironman Coeur d’Alene in 2014.  My most memorable events have been running 5Ks with my kids, running the Marine Corp marathon with my son while my daughter popped up all over the course to cheer us on, and being surrounded by family and friends at the finish line of IMCDA.

A chance encounter at Starbucks a few years ago led us down an unexpected road, while I was training for Ironman Coeur d’Alene.  I recognized the M Dot tattoo on Scott’s calf, which opened the door for me to ask him questions about Ironman and all of the crazy training I was just starting. (Good thing he was wearing shorts that day!)  We exchanged numbers and occasionally would exchange a quick text or 2 about training.  At that time, Scott was running his business in Seattle and in and out of town frequently so we began to see more of each other.  Over time, our friendship evolved in to something bigger and stronger.  We realized that it was pretty amazing to have your best friend beside you while training.  During our training for IM we both recognized that there was an enormous hole in the Kansas City market when it came to triathlon, and running related items.  We found Endurance House through a Google search and started researching their stores and what they were offering.  It took no time at all to realize that this was the perfect fit for us, as well as, Kansas City.   We are excited to build this community with the help of our friends and family, and can’t wait to share our knowledge with like-minded people of all ages!!
